Have you ever wanted to make learning the alphabet fun by incorporating games?
We know kids learn faster when there’s a game involved so we made a list of our 17 favorite activities to use for learning the alphabet!

1. Alphabet scavenger hunt: Create a list of items around the house that start with each letter of the alphabet. Challenge kids to find one item for each letter.
- Alphabet matching game: Cut out large letters of the alphabet from construction paper or print them out. Have kids match the lowercase letters to the uppercase letters.
We also have our own matching game that has helped over 1,000 teachers in their classroom.
- Alphabet puzzle: Cut out large letters of the alphabet from cardboard or foam board and have kids put them back together to create the alphabet puzzle.
- Alphabet bingo: Create bingo cards with a mix of upper and lowercase letters. Call out the letters and have kids mark them off on their bingo card.
- Alphabet race: Write the letters of the alphabet on index cards and place them in a row on the floor. Have kids race to see who can put the letters in order the fastest.
- Alphabet books: Have kids create their own alphabet books by drawing a picture and writing the name of something that starts with each letter of the alphabet.
- Alphabet painting: Give kids a large piece of paper and have them use their fingers to paint the letters of the alphabet.
- Alphabet soup: Cut out letters of the alphabet from construction paper and have kids use them to spell out words in a bowl of water.
- Alphabet treasure hunt: Write the letters of the alphabet on small pieces of paper and hide them around the house. Have kids search for the letters and put them in order when they find them.
- Alphabet dominoes: Write the letters of the alphabet on small pieces of paper and have kids match the upper and lowercase letters to create a domino chain.
- Alphabet memory game: Write the letters of the alphabet on index cards and place them facedown on a table. Have kids take turns turning over two cards at a time, trying to find matching letters.
- Alphabet matching game: Print out pictures of objects that start with each letter of the alphabet and have kids match the pictures to the correct letters.
- Alphabet matching game: Write the letters of the alphabet on small pieces of paper and have kids match the upper and lowercase letters by placing them on top of each other.
- Alphabet scavenger hunt: Write the letters of the alphabet on small pieces of paper and hide them around the house. Have kids search for the letters and put them in order when they find them.
- Alphabet sticker game: Give kids a large piece of paper and a pack of alphabet stickers. Have them place the stickers on the paper to spell out words.
- Alphabet tracing: Give kids a large piece of paper and a pencil and have them trace the letters of the alphabet.
- Alphabet hide and seek: Write the letters of the alphabet on small pieces of paper and hide them around the house. Have kids search for the letters and put them in order when they find them.
