Imagine being a young child who thrives on movement. You can’t quite grasp the overwhelming energy radiating through your body or understand how to control it. You feel the urge to wiggle, stand, shake, talk and fidget widget. How are you, as a young child, supposed to cope with the stress of needing to Sit Spots still to be considered well behaved?
This is becoming an increasingly popular problem among young children and even adolescents. In fact, according to the 2016 National Survey of Children’s Health, 6.1 million individuals between the ages of 4-17 have been diagnosed with ADHD. An even higher number have been diagnosed with general attention disorders.
Even those little ones who have not been diagnosed with any specific disorder generally only have an attention span of 15-20 minutes. However, they are expected to sit still and remain quiet for long periods of time while in school. When the student is incapable of doing so, they are considered misbehaved and disruptive.
How can teachers help correct young individual’s attention span and the need to fidget without hindering their education? Everyday Educate provides an incredibly easy solution. They are chair fidget bands.
Everyday Educate’s fidget bands are durable and thick rubber loops that can be easily installed in every classroom. Just simply stretch the band over the two front chair legs. The children can then use their feet to kick the bands, stretch the bands, rest on the sensory bands, etc.
Why is this such a great modification to the classroom?
It is great because it provides a quiet and non-distracting way for children to fidget. When easily distracted, children have an outlet for their pent up energy, it allows them to better focus on instruction and lessons. Students will learn to self-regulate their behavior and increase their learning efficiencies. Other students will benefit as well from not having their classmates distracting them. Overall, it is a great product to maintain order in your classroom. It provides the best possible learning environment to mold young mind’s through education.
What is also beneficial about the fidget bands is they can be transported with ease. Because it is just an elastic band, it can be folded up and put in a backpack or jacket pocket. Teachers may want to allow students to bring to and from school. This way parents can benefit from the bands too, such as keeping their child seated for dinner. The material also makes it easy to clean any dirt that comes off the shoes.
My hope is that children learning to self-regulate their fidgeting habits at an early age can prevent them from needing medication. In my opinion, any natural or easy substitute for medication is an absolute win. With fidget bands being such a quick fix to attention span deficiencies it seems to be a no brainer. Get your 12-pack and start filling your classroom chairs with fidget bands. Enjoy a more peaceful and focused lesson plan.

I love this idea! I think all kids need to move while learning but especially those with ADHD. Thanks for sharing!
These are wonderful! My son doesn’t have attention issues but he struggles with physically controlling his body and these work wonders for him.
